Race Day Information
RACE START
The start line for both the 5K and 15K races will be at the intersection of Columbus and Monroe in Grant Park.
5K
The 5K race will begin at 7:40am. Corrals A-D will stage directly behind the start line. Those in the open corral between a 10-11minute pace/mile will line up behind the D Corral on Columbus Ave. All other 5K participants will line up on the North side of Congress (Westbound) and make a left turn onto Columbus as the race begins. Due to electronic timing and 15K staging, no 5K participants will be allowed to start the race after 8:05am.
15K
The 15K race will need to be in place in their appropriate corrals by 8:10am for an 8:20am start.
15K runners in Corrals A-D will stage on Jackson, east of Columbus. Those in the open corral between a 10-11minute pace/mile will line on Columbus Avenue between Congress and Balbo. All other open corral participants will stage on the South side of Congress (Eastbound) between Columbus and Michigan Ave.
Please note that all participants in the 5K and 15K must maintain a minimum pace of 15minutes/mile.
GEAR CHECK
Gear check is available to all 5K and 15K participants from 6am – 12pm on race day. Gear check bags must be no larger than 12” X 18”. When you arrive to gear check, have the tear off tab from the top of your race bib ready to adhere to your gear check bag. Volunteers will only take bags with tabs already attached. You must have your race bib in order to reclaim your items at gear check after the event.
No gear check available to participants of the Walk for Little City.
GEAR CHECK ACCESS
- 5K runners please use Balbo off of Michigan Ave to access your Gear Check Tent located at the SW corner of Columbus & Balbo
- 15K runners please use Harrison Street Bridge to access your Gear Check Tent located at the NW corner of Columbus & Balbo
WEATHER
Please check local weather updates periodically as the race approaches. Sunrise will be at approximately 7:27am. Average high temperature – 45F, average low temperature – 35F.
RUNNER REUNITE
Choose a meeting location for friends and family before race day. All city light poles are lettered and numbered and can be used as meet up points. There will not be a designated runner reunite location.
