Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego
Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego (RMHC) is a welcoming “home-away-from-home” for families with children facing medical challenges, providing an atmosphere of comfort, hope and courage. Almost 1,500 families stay in the 47 guest rooms each year. Last year, another 50,000 day visitors sought the care and comfort of San Diego’s Ronald McDonald House through the Family Care Center, which is open to families who are not staying at the House overnight. The Family Care Center offers families three meals daily, the chance to nap in the day use room, shower, and use other services in the House, all free of charge. Last year, over 160,000 meals were served, free of charge, to family members. 200 siblings of hospitalized children attended the onsite school for grades K-12 and the Learn & Play Center for preschool-aged children. Through these services, RMHCSD helps to ease families burdens and take care of basic needs while they care for their seriously ill children.
